Reyes Holdings completed construction on the new Chicago, Illinois corporate headquarters for Reyes Beer Division in the Summer of 2022. This beautiful new office space on Elston Street was repurposed from an existing 48,500-square-foot furniture retail building with the partnership of OKW Architects and Helios Construction Services.
Using LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) building practices, sustainability was top of mind when designing the facility. Some key sustainable features include:
Rainwater harvesting system to water plants in the building
Recycled kegs used in the boardroom design
Daylight harvesting to minimize the need for artificial lighting throughout the building
Complete overhaul of the HVAC system
Donation of critical items to the Respiratory Health Association instead of diverting waste to landfills
The existing building was renovated to provide desk space for approximately 175 RBD employees. The first floor features a Beer Hall, which offers a unique lounge space built with locally sourced materials. The existing concrete floors were also polished and re-used as the finished floors throughout the space to minimize unnecessary waste.
The second floor includes a high-end boardroom with salvaged kegs placed in transparent glass walls. An adjacent speakeasy features wood pallets that were repurposed as a decorative ceiling cloud with integrated lighting and two existing penthouses were converted into a new roof patio area for employee gatherings.
